1993 Season Review

   The 1993 season ran from early October to May 8th thus lasting seven months. Fourteen students were team members at the end of the year. Varsity letters were awarded to Brandy Gambill, Matthew McClain (4th year and captain), Drew Stout (3rd year), Calvin Tran, and Daniel Walters. Junior Varsity letters were earned by Eric Lockhart, Kevin Mrfell, Dan McClain, Caitlin McLaughlin, and Eric Searies (2nd year). Participation certificates were awarded to Chris Dalton, Rebekan Fuller, Lisa Presley, and Heather Viggers. In the eleven Varsity and four Junior Varsity interscholastic competitions the Varsity record was 30 wins and 12 losses, while the Frosh-Soph record was 5 wins and 5 losses. The Varsity team won the first place trophy at the Indian Valley Conference tournament and placed third at the Peoria County Tournament. The highlight of the year was the Sectional Championship and finishing in the top eight at the IHSA State Class A tournament.

   The top Varsity toss-up question answerer was Drew Stout with 185 toss-up questions answered. This is a new team record. Matthew McClain was second with 69 correct answers. The team as a whole answered 324 questions for a 7.7 answers per quiz average. This also established a new team record surpassing the 7.4 of 1991.

Sectional Champions

   Peoria Heights again hosted the (fifth annual) Casimir Pulaski Day mini-tournament on the first Monday in March. Brimfield won first place in both the Varsity and Frosh-Soph divisions this year. Thanks to the following staff who assisted: Rich Henz, Claudia Ulavege, Sue Miller, Jerry Crumrine, Tracy Wetzler, Ranay Cooksey, Dick Wetzler, Tom Gamboe, and Linda Maricle. Volunteers are welcome for the 1994 tournament on March 7th from 9 a.m. until noon.
