The Peoria Heights High School scholastic bowl team placed third in the Prairieland Conference championship with a 14-7 record. Cuba was second with an 16-5 record and fifth place at state. Lewistown was first with an 18-3 record. Two of Lewistown’s losses were to PHHS. Havana, BPC, Elmwood, Abingdon, and Astoria followed. The conference contests were held over seven dates with three quizzes each evening.
All conference medallions were awarded to Katy Hardy (12) of Cuba with 142 toss-up questions answered, Jeron Sanders (11) of Lewistown with 69, and Adam Wallenfang (11) of Peoria Heights with 58. Other all conference members were Scott Swickard (12) of Lewistown with 56, Cody Snell (12) of Elmwood with 50, Lindsay Craig (12) of Havana with 40, J. D. Anderson (11) of Abingdon with 39, Christina Naslund (12) of BPC with 38, Scott McGrew of BPC who answered 34, and Nathan Webb (12) of Lewistown who answered 34 toss-up questions. Other Heights students answering conference questions included Cheryl Boles, Ryan DeLong, Andrew Jackson, Noah Johnson, Ian Munk, and Susan Woo.
Peoria Heights was fourth at the twenty-four team Princeville tournament, third at the twenty-four team Aledo tournament, and third in the Peoria Area League West Division.

Team leader in toss-ups answered was junior Adam Wallenfang with 171 followed by senior Ryan DeLong with 56 and senior and team captain Cheryl Boles with 55. Junior Susan Woo answered 43, senior Ian Munk answered 12, and another junior answered 12. Sophomores Noah Johnson and Matt Fuller answered 9 and 6 respectively.
Adam Wallenfang received a second year varsity bar. Cheryl Boles, Ryan DeLong, Ian Munk, and Susan Woo received varsity letters. Cheryl served as captain and received the captain pin. Ryan DeLong and Cheryl Boles earned Fifty Point Club recognition and received plaques. Adam received a One Hundred Point Club plaque.
The varsity team competed in nineteen contests in the six month season between October and March. They answered 386 toss-up questions for a 5.9 per quiz average en route to a 40-25 record. The overall school varsity record is now 468 wins and 292 losses in the 16 years PHHS has competed in scholastic bowl.
The frosh-soph record was 7-15. Noah Johnson (12 FS and 9 Varsity toss-ups answered), another junior, Andrew Jackson, and another sophomore (9 FS) received second year bars for the JV letter. Grant Allen (2 FS), Matt Fuller (36 FS and 6 Varsity), and Justin Massey (27 FS) were awarded JV letters. Brandon Burgess and Jamie Reichert (4 FS) also contributed and recieved certificates. The frosh-soph team answered 94 toss-up questions for a 4.3 average while competing on seven dates. Matt Fuller and Noah Johnson shared duties of captain. Mrs. Lyn Egle was the F/S Coach. Thanks to all the parents, staff, and non-scholastic bowl students who helped during the year.
